Search Engine Marketing in Plain English: Social Media Optimization

The rising popularity of Facebook, Twitter and other social networks  increased their influence in search engine marketing and search engine optimization.  Social Media Optimization, expanding your brand recognition through social networks, is a supplemental service of SEO Starter Set. For optimal effect, social Media Optimization should follow the fundamental SEO tweaks on any site.

A great example of Social Media Optimization is when the Travel Channel launched the first season of Dhani Jones Tackles the Globe. I tracked the remarkable rise of the show’s popularity on social networks. Dhani utilized Youtube, Facebook and Twitter to engage viewers and lure new ones. By the end of the first season, Dhani had  1,273 new subscribers for his YouTube Channel, 426,638 views for his most popular video,4,215 Facebook fans and 1,650 followers on Twitter. Travel Channel extended Dhani’s contract for a second season, thanks to his savvy marketing and branding.
